RECRUITING: Stackhouse Sends Out Three Offers

While sports remain on hold, recruiting is heating up as Coach Stackhouse has had a busy week.  In addition to promoting Damany Hendrix to assistant coach Tuesday, he also extended three scholarship offers to 2021 prospects.

The first offer came last Friday of Memorial Day weekend to Frankie Collins, a 6’1” point guard from Arizona. The four-star prospect is rated the 64th overall player, and the ninth best point guard by 247 Sports. Collins is a dynamic playmaker who was surrounded by college prospects playing for powerful Arizona Compass Prep. His other offers include Auburn, Georgetown, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Washington State, Minnesota, Arizona State, Columbia, Kansas, New Mexico, TCU, Oklahoma, UTEP, and UNLV.  Several of these programs recruiting Collins pushed him to reclassify to the 2020 class, but ultimately he decided against it.

“No reclassifying, Because I think if I want I can continue to work on the things I need to work on and get better throughout the year,” Collins told Stockrisers.com.

The next offer came to 6’8” forward James Graham III out of Nicolet High School in Milwaukee. Graham isn’t currently rated by the major recruiting services but expect that to change as he is seen as one of the fastest risers in the class. He already has offers from Auburn, Michigan State, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Cincinnati, Missouri, Florida State, Wake Forrest, Maryland, UNCW, Milwaukee, DePaul, and Rutgers. Graham told recruiting expert Adam Zagoria on zagsblog.com that he expects Vanderbilt to make his final five even though the Commodores took longer to offer. He appreciated the time the coaching staff took order to build the relationship and make sure the fit was right.

“They like me and I like them. It’s really good. I like when schools take the time to build a relationship with me” he told Zagoria.

The latest offer came Thursday afternoon to Gabe Dorsey, a 6’6” guard from The Hill School in Pottstown, PA. He is a three-star prospect rated as the 184th overall player and 34th best shooting guard by 247 Sports, but another player whose stock is rising quickly.

“I’m a 6-foot-6 wing who shoots the ball exceptionally well and defends very well from 1-4” he told Stockrisers.com.

His offer list includes Virginia Tech, Harvard, Tennessee, Xavier, Providence, Penn State, VCU, Bucknell, Georgetown, UMass, La Salle, Siena, Iona, and Mount St. Mary’s.

Coach Stackhouse has proven to have a keen eye for talent and these prospects look like no exception. While it’s still early in the recruiting process for the 2021 class, The Dore Report will continue to monitor these potential Commodores and other offers to come.
