RECRUITING: Taco Wright Commits To Vandy

Derek Mason and company picked up their 7th commitment of the 2021 class with the addition of 3-star Atlanta native Alan “Taco” Wright, a 6 foot 185 lb., cornerback.

Taco is the brother of 2020 QB commit Mike Wright. Alan, who has played for Woodward Academy in GA, ranks 1,372 nationally, 115th by position, and 107th in Georgia, per 247sports. He held offers from Maryland, Cincinnati, UCF, and East Carolina among others.

The younger Wright brother is now the 4th commit for the secondary and the second CB commit along with Tyson Russell. Besides playing football, Wright runs track in the spring, where he posted an 11.76 100 meter dash and a 22’ 0.5 PR for long jump. Wright possesses a great deal of athleticism which translates to the football field extremely well.

Here’s Wright’s highlights on Hudl:

With his speed, he covers the deep ball well, but is also a very physical corner off the line of scrimmage. With the Commodores losing Dontye Williams, Wright will provide more depth at the position, and will hopefully excel under new defensive backs coach Aaron Henry.

Mason and his staff continue to find players for the already successful 2021 class. Join us in congratulating Alan “Taco” Wright on his commitment to the black and gold.
