Vanderbilt took a huge blow on the defensive side of the ball after NFL prospect and leading tackler Dimitri Moore opted out of the 2020 season. Moore never actually gave reasoning for his opt out, however it’s safe to assume his decision was influenced by his top 3 round projection and to avoid complications with Covid-19.
Vanderbilt fans can have a sense of optimism because earlier this morning Moore hinted at his return by posting a picture of him in a Vanderbilt jersey and holding the caption “I’m back and I’m ready”. Shortly after, Senior LB Brayden Devault-Smith posted a picture of him and Moore with the caption “Need it”.

It seems reasonable to assume Moore is hinting at his return which means a lot for Tedd Roof’s defense. Moore led the team in tackles last year with 48 and added 1 sack to his resume too. There is no concrete evidence yet, but this sure is one to keep an eye on.
