Commodore Nation finally received the long anticipated reveal of a throwback helmet on Thursday morning. The Dore Report offered an exclusive sneak peek at the new lid yesterday.
Rumored to be in the works over the off-season, the revealed helmet combines a classic design with modern elements. The cursive script “Vandy” adorns each side of the helmet while the modern Nashville skyline is spread across the back of the dome. The Commodores will sport the fresh look Saturday as they take on the defending national champion and 20th ranked LSU Tigers (0-1, 0-1 SEC). Allan George and Brett McMurphy tweeted that Vanderbilt will wear the helmet 3 times this season.
