Player Comparison: Jordan Rodgers (I want to say Jay Cutler but I am not going to do that)

Score (1-5): 4

AJ Swann’s game in one word: Gunslinger

Shades of Jay Cutler, not as big, but a hell of an arm. With Swann’s quick release he is able to get rid of the ball under pressure with accuracy. He does have some INT issues that have led to some questions about his decision making when he takes a step up in competition.

Swann has announced he will be enrolling early and participating in Spring practice. I fully expect Swann to be in the mix for the starting job in 2022, but we will find out if he actually is ready to see the field as a Freshman pretty quickly.

Drew Dickey

Power 5 Offers

Maryland

Other Offers

  • Colorado State
  • Marshall

Player Comparison: Austyn Carta-Samuels

Score: 2

Nothing against Drew Dickey, but he faces a crowded quarterback room that includes fellow class of 2022 QB AJ Swann and QBs still on the roster in Mike Wright and Ken Seals (for now), both with 3 years of eligibility remaining. Not even mentioning the sole commit of the class of 2023, 3-star QB Reese Mooney, who is the 480th ranked player nationally and 27th ranked QB.

Even though it is a while until pen hits paper, Reese Mooney announced his verbal commitment to Vanderbilt via Twitter on November 21st

I just don’t see a path for Drew Dickey to ever see the field in black and gold, I could be completely wrong.
